2013 Tin Barn Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Hi Vista Vineyard Carneros, Sonoma County
Fermented in 80 percent stainless steel and 20 percent barrel, and when dry the blend was stainless aged on lees without malolactic. The aromas are on-point for Sauvignon Blanc: There are citrus and musk and green fruits. But it’s less obvious than many California Sauvignon Blancs from a ripe vintage (like this one), and the body skews more melon and yellow stone fruit than lime and gooseberries. The wood is evident texturally, as is the lees aging, both of which add sensuousness and velvet to what is an otherwise crisply vertical wine. Refreshing, delicious, and affordable, especially considering its single-vineyard provenance.
